Bernie Sanders Open to Working with Trump on Infrastructure
Sanders says he will work with Trump, but on certain conditions
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders says he is open to working with President-elect Donald Trump on infrastructure, according to a report.
“I don’t think it makes sense to say, ‘No, we’re not going to work in any way, in any form with the Trump administration,’” Sanders said Thursday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
Sanders says he is willing to work with Trump on the country’s collapsing infrastructure, assuming it is done in a way that doesn’t privatize infrastructure and give tax breaks to billionaires.
The Senator also said he is willing to renegotiate trade agreements that favor American workers.
Again, Sanders said this while qualifying the statement, noting that there cannot be any compromise when it comes to protecting American democracy.
How much work the two will do together is unknown, given that Trump’s infrastructure plan involves incentivizing private companies to invest in building projects.
