Private Freight Rail is America's Best Infrastructure
Rail was the only sector of infrastructure to receive a ‘B’ grade or better on the latest infrastructure report card.
Of 16 graded sectors in the American Society of Civil Engineer’s infrastructure report card, no one scored higher than rail at a B grade. In large part this can be attributed to heavy investment—the Wall Street Journal reports $27.1 billion in 2015.
The report states that passenger railroads face significant funding problems, but freight railroads have seen constant spending which is required to maintain passable infrastructure.
A report says there is certainly still room for improvement; including possible tax reform and streamlining federal regulatory processes to promote innovation.
